(2011-3-21)Triadimefon, a triazole fungicide used to control rust and powdery mildew of vegetables, fruits, flowers and grains, is currently under tight supply, though many producers are busy producing this product, due to its increasing demand from overseas and domestic market.
With the coming peak season of fungicides consumption, major triadimefon technical producers in China, such as Jiangsu Sword Agrochemicals Co., Ltd. (Jiangsu Sword), Jiangsu Sevencontinent Green Chemical Co., Ltd. (Jiangsu Sevencontinent), Jiangsu Jiannong Agrochemical Co., Ltd. (Jiangsu Jiannong), etc., have received many orders so far, and most producers claim that the supply of triadimefon technical is very tight at present.
At present, Jiangsu Sword, China's largest triadimefon technical producer with capacity of 1,800t/a, is not able to supply sufficient triadimefon technical to the market. "Our orders have been fully engaged and the triadimefon technical production line is being operated with full capacity recently" said Mr. Tang, sales manager from Jiangsu Sword.
Jiangsu Sevencontinent, the second largest triadimefon technical producer in China with capacity of 1,000t/a, has been keeping over 80% operating rate in recent months. Mr. Zhu, reveals that the company's output of triadimefon technical hit about 800 tonnes in 2010, increasing by 300 tonnes over 2009, and it is estimated to reach about 1,000 tonnes in 2011.
The increasing demand for triadimefon technical from domestic and overseas market is the most important factor leading to its tight supply at present. About 60% triadimefon technical in China is exported to overseas market, and the export situation of triadimefon technical has been gradually turning better since 2010.
Taking Jiangsu Zhangjiagang No.2 Pesticide Co., Ltd. (Jiangsu Zhangjiagang) for example, the export volume of its triadimefon technical was about 400 tonnes in 2010, up 50% over 2009. And the company has expanded its triadimefon technical capacity from 700t/a to 1,500t/a in 2010. According to a sales staff of Jiangsu Zhangjiagang, the company receives more orders as of late Feb. 2011 than the same period of last year.
As for the domestic market, the demand for triadimefon has been increasing steadily in recent years, thanks to its good control effect on wheat stripe rust and powdery mildew. Although wheat diseases are not very severe at present because of the drought, it will break out in most wheat production regions in the coming months with the temperature rise and humidity increase. Wheat stripe rust and powdery mildew are estimated to hit about 10.67 million ha. of wheat planting area in 2011.
Besides, many small producers of triadimefon technical in China stopped production in the past two years as they failed to meet the requirement of environmental protection. The state issued the Effluent Standards of Pollutants for Heterocyclic Pesticides Industry in 2008, in which the pollutant discharge for triadimefon technical production must be lower than 2mg/L.
The price of triadimefon technical hits about USD8,676/t in early Mar. 2011, up 2.10% compared with last month and up 7.47% over the same period of last year. Triadimefon technical's price is predicted to continue to rise in the next days, with the coming of its consumption peak season and increasing raw material price.
